falling weather

In honor of today being the first official day of Fall (and it actually feels like Fall outside!), here are my top 10 favorite things about Fall
  1. Hoodies that are worn in and fit perfectly
  2. Drinking hot cups of coffee and tea throughout the day
  3. Crunching leaves under my flats
  4. Texas nights that are chilly enough to need a scarf
  5. Pumpkin inspired desserts and drinks
  6. Hanging out in coffee shops while the doors are open and everyone is hustling by
  7. Driving with the windows down (and not melting)
  8. Staying snuggled in bed past a socially acceptable time
  9. Brainstorming Halloween costumes, and Thanksgiving recipes
  10. A new one this year, playing with the weenie pup outside, and finding him some awesome puppy hoodies

Rainy (yet awesome) weekend

Sunday, September 13th, 2009
Here are a few pictures of Harper from this weekend.   Harp’s been none too happy about all the rain, he doesn’t dig getting his paws wet (what a priss).
Last night we went to a friend’s birthday party, and she has two wiener dogs.  I couldn’t get any pictures, they were running around too fast! We also met up with Elizabeth’s weenie dogs yesterday.  I think they will get along better next time, yesterday’s play date was mostly spent sniffing each other out.

Harper likes to bark, at the rain. Weirdo.

And he likes to just randomly pass out in the middle of the floor.

Full List – 50 Things to See, Hear and Do This Fall – TIME
I’m going to take a crack at this list this fall, who is with me?

Portland, you’re my second fav

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009
We rented a car (a Ford Taurus, awesome) in Seattle and made the 2+ hour drive to Portland during our trip. Not a bad drive, beautiful scenery along the way. Portland was fantastic…everything was very clean and pretty. It’s nice to see tax dollars going to make beautiful parks and keeping everything from the lamp posts to the sidewalks clean and well designed.
We mostly just walked around the city. We went up the the 30th floor of Portland City Grill and have a good (yet a little pricey) brunch. We wondered around a bit and found ourselves at Cupcake Jones for a little post-brunch dessert.
Speaking of cupcakes, we found the most awesome cupcake shop in Seattle, called The Yellow Leaf.  The owners were super nice and the cupcakes were amazing. In fact, one of the owners was a fan of Hey Cupcake!
