we’re making progress

so the last few days with harper have been awesome and exhausting. i had no idea how much work a little puppy was. he is slowly starting to not freak out when we put him in the bathroom while we go to work. although this afternoon i got home and there was poo smeared on the tub…don’t know how that happened.

he sometimes understands going to the bathroom on the training pads. other times, he likes to sneak off and poo.

night time has been really rough. at first, when he would cry i would put him in bed with me. but after talking with several people, i realized that isn’t the best thing for him, and he really needs to learn to sleep in his crate (he loves being in it during the day, i don’t understand why he doesn’t at night). i think he just gets scared being by himself.

monday night we put his crate in the living room and just let him cry. he cried for two hours straight. it was terrible and i ended up giving in and putting him in bed with me.

last night we tried something my friend with a 5 month old baby recommended, when he cries, go to his crate and reassure him that you’re there, but don’t let him out. granted, we had to get up a lot and reassure him, it was soo much better. he would fall back asleep in about 10 minutes.

weighing the pros and cons though…he is so very much worth it. :)

Oh the silliness
